Dermarolling / Microneedling / Dermarollers and creams after - clogging, irritating?
« Last post by ostojewa2 on October 15, 2013, 01:40:03 PM »
It's said that after applying dermaroller you should use some lotions/creams to boost your progress.

What I am affraid of is if those creams/lotions are not prepared for skin with predisposition to acne (and can cause pores clogginh and irritates skin)...

Dermarolling / Microneedling / Re: Using makeup after dermarolling

Sorry for the multiple posts, but I forgot to ask something. As I understand it from this and other forums, the holes in the face close within an hour or two (which is why you need to immediately apply topicals), even with longer needles. This being the case, why is makeup an issue for 24-48 hours? If it is only due to irritating the outer layer of the skin, I think that is much less risky than if it were to reach below the epidermis, like, if you apply makeup immediately after rolling. You state above that your concern is mainly with pigmentation and infection. How is this possible if the skin closes after a few hours?

Can you advise of any primers/undercoatings/disinfectants that could be put under makeup to diminish absorption (I use natural powder makeup)? I ask this because I live with my boyfriend and it is almost impossible to get him to understand the dermarolling process and the fact that I have to stay out of public for a full weekend. In other words, if I roll Friday night and a friend calls on Saturday asking us to come have dinner with them, he will agree to it and not even bother asking me. It may sound like I am fishing for relationship advise, but I am not. I have accepted this and know that if I want to dermaroll I will have to compromise on the makeup situation. I refuse to go around anyone without makeup when my face already looks terrible and is red and irritated. So, having said this, do you have any suggestions for me to minimize the bad effects of the makeup? I will be using a 2.0 dermaroller on Friday night and will sometimes need makeup by Saturday afternoon. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Dermarolling / Microneedling / Re: Evenly Spread Acne Scars - enormous improvement

Thanks for your compliment.  I personally have been doing it now since February of 2012 which means I've been doing it for the past 20 months.  I'm not exactly where I want it to be but it has improved greatly.  I think it improves little by little each time you do it.  Do I think it'll ever look "perfect", I don't know, but it will look much better.  In certain angles in the light u can still see every scar that I have, but they are much flatter scars.  If I were standing in front of someone talking to them in normal lighting, they may not notice them.  It's the harsh light that exposes them mostly.  I am still working on them myself but I don't plan on stopping rolling ever.  I figure this way, the scars will eventually all look normal, and I'll keep my skin as wrinkle free and healthy as I possibly can.

Dermarolling / Microneedling / Re: great customer service

Forum member "richierich" who started this thread allowed us to post his emails to us and his photo. I almost fell off my chair when I read he wil soon be 55 because he looks much younger!

We decided not to post his photo in Disneyland because it included his three beautiful daughters and they may not like to be on our forum so we asked "richierich" for a photo of just himself. He looks amazing! We hope he will tell us what exactly improved and what he uses.

Emails:

"Thank you I really you love all your products. And I am so happy with the results. Of all your products. And believe me I've tried them all. I've loved everything I purchased from you guys. And I also recommend you to people. Because they noticed the change also. And your customer service is amazing. Thank you very much. And I'm looking for any new products you have. Once again thank you so much". (name deleted)

"Here is a picture of me and my kids last week at Disneyland I get so many people asking me my age now I'm tired of hearing about :) I'm not tired of it. You may post this and what I have wrote I will be 55 on 28 October. You may post anything I write. Excuse my spelling. And like I said I've tried 1 million products out there and yours are the best  and I have really never done business with anybody like you thank you". (name deleted)

Way to go on such awesome improvement!!

I've improved some of my scars as well but wondering do you think that the skin ever "stops" improving? Or scars just fills in to a certain point and just stops :-\

I was reading another board on acne scars and came across this bit of disappointing information. But from the looks of your photos it appears that that info may not be 100% accurate and it totally depends on the individual.

I'm only around 5 months or so in to treatment but for results like yours I'll definitely continue to needle for a year or more or however long it takes ;)

Keep up the good work!

Thank you Sarah for posting the Side by Side photo. Without it, it can be a little hard to tell if there is any improvement, how much improvement, or if what you're actually seeing isn't just plain ol wishful thinking ???

I knew there had been some positive changes for me when I looked in my driver's side visor mirror. The scars would just jump out at me :o Now they have softened considerably.

Although my scars were not severe, I needled very aggressively (stamped then rolled) and I was a swollen bloody mess afterwards. But the smoothing that followed made it all worth it even though I got some really dark patches of discoloration. I started the tretinoin and hydroquoine which helped lightened those areas but I broke out a bit after starting that treatment so now I gotta deal with that  :-\ . Some of smaller more shallow pits are completely gone and I'm hoping some of indentations left behind continues to improve ::)

Sarah,  besides the bleaching cream and retin a for the hyperpigmentation, do you think that I can do anything else to further improve my results? I didn't use the individual needles that much and I never tried adding the tretinoin immediately after needling some of the stubborn deeper scars. I may just try that at this point. I know that I will never be completely scarefree but I'd like to get as close as possible (fingers crossed lol)

Dermarolling / Microneedling / beginner needs help
« Last post by joao on October 13, 2013, 04:57:23 PM »
Hello everybody. Greetings from Brazil.

My name is João and I'm 21 years old. Today while reading a brazilian website I came across the product dermaroller and found it very interesting. Since then I have been searching for more information about it and found this site.

Great site you have Sarah. Lots of good info here.

So far I am not sure which products should I use to help my skin.

Based on the photos what would you recommend for my skin?
And what  type of scars do you think I have?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
João

I think that your overall skin texture is much smoother and your scars are slowly getting shallower (see the red circled scars). For someone who has micro-needled his face only a few times, you got good results.

You are unfortunate with getting the hyperpigmentation but hopefully this will improve soon with tretinoin and hydroquinone.

Thank you for documenting your progress. As a reward for making the effort, please email to martina@owndoc.com and tell her what products from our store would you like (as a token of appreciation) and give her your name and address for shipment.

When you have time, please email me (sarah@owndoc.com) a photo of your right cheek that should show approximately the same area as your initial "before" photo. I know you posted an "after" photo of your right cheek but it does not seem to cover the same area as the "before" photo.

Thank you!
