Which products to avoid with dermaneedling?

I'm a 20 year old male that has some problems with my facial skin. I used harsh acne treatments in my mid teens to treat acne of which has caused me problems later in life. The problems happened as soon as my facial skin stopped being oily. To cut the story short, my face has now got fine lines around the mouth and forehead and the skin has itself looks like I've damaged the skins collagen.


I'm wondering what products to totally avoid when using the Dermaroller. I've read that you should not be using anti-inflammatory ingredients when using the roller as it counter acts the inflamed skin response that the Derma roller is used for. Now what i want to know is, is this just for after Dermarolling or is this to totally avoid completely? I'm using a product with Niacinamide (first ingredient) in it and that is itself anti-inflammatory. Could i continue to use this product with Niacinamide a few days after rolling or do you have to avoid anti-inflammatory products altogether?


I'm using a 0.5mm weekly.

Just to clarify I am using the roller for improving skin texture. I have very few scars.

Not using anti-inflammatory substances applies only to substances with a STRONG anti-inflammatory effect, applied immediately after dermarolling (especially after dermarolling with long needles). Some hours later, it is already OK to apply them.

Lots of substances have a very mild anti-inflammatory effect (for example certain oils) but that is not a problem.

Avoid creams with corticosteroids, all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory creams, creams indicated to relief itchiness and irritation, creams for allergies, creams with a high percentage of aloe vera, avoid Tea Tree oil.

Vit. E does have an anti-inflammatory effect but I am not sure how strong. The best is to roll the skin, apply vit. E on half of the rolled area and see whether there is significant difference in the length and intensity of inflammation in those two parts (compare redness, pain, increased temperature of the skin, swelling).

Thank you very much for answering my query. I'm going to take your advice and apply the products 24 hours after rolling, or until the inflammation has reduced significantly. I think this should be sufficient as I am only using a 0.5mm roller.
