Smile lines, can dermarolling help?
« on: April 14, 2010, 10:53:52 AM »
I am progressing well, I think with my dermarolling, but dont know how to tackle those smile lines, from side of nose down to corner of mouth. I am rolling them at the moment, but do they need needling?, also steralizing, can I use dettol, having difficulty with ethanol in Boots and local pharmacies,:)

Do you mean the fold running from the nose to the corners of the lips?

I've addressed it here:

Yes you can use Dettol, the variety labeled "Antiseptic disinfectant":

https://http://www.firstaidwarehouse.co.uk/xpp-dettol_liquid_500ml.html

Contains: Chloroxylenol B.P.4.8%w/v, Also contains:, Pine Oil, Isopropyl Alcohol, Castor Oil Soap, Caramel and Water

Wash it off before you roll.

Dettol doesn't blunt or corrode the metal needles, as you can read here:

https://http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/motm/dettol/dettolh.htm

Some more info about disinfecting the roller:

Before you start swilling molecules of dettol around the house like many other chemicals, nbe aware that over-use may lead to contact dermatitis or even bacterial resistance. Q:  If I use a .25 three times weekly for skin care product penetration would I be overusing the Dettol?

You do not have to disinfect your skin if using short needles (0.25 or shorter).  Just wash your skin with your usual cleansing method before you roll.

Wash or shortly soak the roller after every use in water with a little dishwashing liquid. Then soak the roller in disinfecting alcohol such as ethanol. This is especially important with rollers that have longer needles.
