young skin but with problems
« on: November 05, 2012, 08:40:14 AM »
I'm 25 and have some mild acne scars, this year I also began to receive my first wrinkles.  Some fine ones around my eyes, but the problem area is lines around the sides of my mouth which I've only had for a matter of months.  I do have deep nasolabial folds due to genetics, I know I can't change these with derma rolling though.  I'd really like to tackle the wrinkles around my mouth but also my skin texture as a whole as I have open pores, it looks dull and lacks tone.

I notice you mention lyme disease on this site, this might not be the right place to discuss it here but I also suffer from this condition and am not sure if I should dermaroll if I have this illness?  I know I am not supposed to use inflammatory products so believe retin A might not be a good idea?

For you acne scars, use a 1.5 mm dermastamp with 35 needles.

Use the 1.5 mm  dermastamp also for the wrinkles around the mouth.

For the wrinkles around the eyes and for the overall skin texture, buy a regular 0.5 mm dermaroller.

Please read my reply #2 to see how to mcironeedle around the eyes:

Enlarged pores

Dermarolling works very effectively on acne scars but pores are not scars.
Pores are ducts in the skin and their size is genetically determined. There
is currently no method that can reliably and permanently make pores smaller.
Very few of our customers managed to make their pores smaller through
microneedling. You can try a regular 0.2 mm or a 0.5 dermaroller to thicken
the epidermis or a 0.5 mm dermastamp. A thickened epidermis could make pores
look smaller because the pore size is the smallest on the skin's surface and
as you go deeper into the skin, the pore channel widens. Some of our
customers improved their pore size with the single needle but always try
just one pore to see if it is not making it worse. Do not expect results too
soon.

Dermarolling and the use of Retin-A is perfectly OK when you have Lyme disease and scientific principles disagree with the notion that "inflammatory products" are to be avoided with Lyme disease, just like the misguided idea that mushrooms are to be avoided when one has Candida:

Thanks for the helpful reply.  Wasn't sure if it'd be too much for my body to handle at the moment but I see you also have Lyme Disease, sorry to hear that.  Before using the derma rollers do I have to wipe alcohol over my face?  I'm not too comfortable using alcohol is there an alternative?  Maybe apple cider vinegar or something like that?

Thanks again
