Skin disinfectant prior to dermarolling
« on: December 07, 2011, 04:24:34 PM »
I plan on dermarolling stretch marks on my breasts and was wondering if it's okay to use the Germ-X hand sanitizer, which has 63% ethyl alcohol? Or is this not safe? I was also wondering what size single needle to use? Thank you

If it is a gel, you can use it on your skin. 63% ethanol is completely sufficient but do not soak the roller in the gel to disinfect it after dermarolling. The gel will stick to the needles and it will be difficult to remove. You should really try to find gel-free ethanol or a mixture of isopropanol (not more than 40% isopropyl) and ethanol to disinfect the roller.

Hello,
I am in the process of figuring out what to buy for my first rolling. I am thinking  about rollers with needles less than 1.0, just to see how I will react to the rolling. My purpose is to thicken my skin as with age it is becoming very thin ( around eyes).  Also, I am very sensitive to a smell of alcohol, various sanitazers etc. Not sure what should I purchase as a skin disinfectant.
Please advise, thank you.

To thicken the skin, a regular 1 mm roller is good. You can buy a 0.5 mm but a 1 mm size is better in this case.

Look at the pictures in my forum posting #2 to see how to roll around the eyes:

You can buy some disinfecting wipes that have perfume added to them. They are for sale in drugstores or perhaps pharmacies (to wipe the hands with during flu epidemics etc.)

However, you should disinfect your roller in perfume-free disinfectant.

Disinfecting the dermaneedling instrument after dermarolling is more important than disinfecting the skin before dermarolling. The most important part of the disinfection is to clean the dermarolling instrument after dermarolling with dishwashing detergent and warm water and rinse it under a very strong stream of water to remove blood and skin debris from the needles. Then soak it in Chloramine-T or Ethanol.
