dermajet on stretch marks
« on: May 18, 2013, 06:23:26 AM »
Hi Sarah! I have for a long time wanted to try dermarolling my stretch marks to see if it can help. The thing is I have stretch marks all over my body. Some of the stretch marks are very wide and deep. I also have some surgery scars on my knee and some acne scars on my chest that i would like to treat. I wouldn't mind also using it on my face/neck/hands to keep wrinkles away if possible. Would you recommend the dermajet as a suitable solution instead of dermarollers and single needles? Also, what needle depth would you recommend for the different problem areas? And how long should i wait between treatments?

Thank you!

There is hardly any tool more suitable for many stretch marks than the Dermajet. It is absolutely perfect for that.  Start with 1 mm size and you can later, after lots of experience go for 1.5 mm. If you bleed a lot with the 1 mm size, do not use the 1.5 mm one.  The Dermajet is even more intensive and "aggressive" treatment than manual single needling so do it only once in 5-6 weeks. Never treat large areas in one go. Treat a small area, when it heals, treat another.

Right after needling, massage our 0.1% Tretinoin cream into the individual stretch marks. First do a small test patch to see how your skin reacts to it. Significant, long lasting redness and stinging is completely normal.  Apply our Infadolan ointment on top of Tretinoin cream.

The weeks in between needling, keep the treatd area moisturized, apply vit. C and Tretinoin at least twice a week. Do not apply both the same day.

Tretinoin cannot be used when pregnant, planning a pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Why Tretinoin:

Use the same 1 mm size for your acne scars on the chest and for your surgical scar on the knee.

Concerning wrinkles, it is suitable but I have not yet completed tests regarding the best needle length for various areas so I have to tell you later.

Can I just ask what a dermajet is?  It sounds like it would be very useful to me as I am treating lots of stretch marks too. :)

Hi Sarah,

It sounds like those of us interested in starting (for the first time) to derma-roll stretch marks should probably wait a month or so to get our hands on a Dermajet. Am I correct?

Thanks!
Sean

Only if you're planning on buying several dermastamps or dermarollers and are planning to needle long-term, otherwise a DermaJet would be more expensive and hence overkill.

The device would be very easy to sell second-hand though, since we'll be selling spare needle cartridges for $9,-.

The dermajet seems amazing.  Do you think, for the face as well as stretchmarks, that someone with my dermaneedling experience (15 months) would be a good candidate to properly use it on my face?

You would be definitely a good candidate, but always start first with the 0.5 mm needle length (wherever you use the DermaJet and for whatever skin condition) and from there, according to bleeding, pain, healing time etc., go for longer needles. Also, on the face, do a small test patch first to see how your skin reacts.

Also, always start with the slowest speed.

Hi Sarah! I was just about to buy the dermajet, and saw that you no longer sell this. What would you now recommend me with the problem areas I mentioned in my first post?

Thank you

Manual stamping will do the same job as the "electrical stamping", manual is just more laborious and time consuming.

>stretch marks are very wide and deep.

I suggest the combination of a regular 1.5 mm dermaroller + 1.5 mm dermastamp with 35 needles + our 0.1% Tretinoin cream.

Follow more or less the routine described here:

https://http://forums.owndoc.com/dermarolling-microneedling/Stretch-Marks-individual-needling

>surgery scars on my knee

A 1.5 mm dermatmap. If the scar has hardened collagen (tough scar tissue), apply also the Tretinoin cream.

>and some acne scars on my chest

A regular 1.5 mm dermaroller + 1.5 mm dermastamp

>that i would like to treat. I wouldn't mind also using it on my face/neck/hands to keep wrinkles

Do not use the same tools for you face and for your body. You are treating large areas on the body and that will blunt the needles quicker. Buy separate dermaneeding instruments for the face.

Concerning wrinkles, a dermaneedling guide for various wrinkles is here:
