Vitamin C serum bottle troubleshooting
« on: July 11, 2013, 09:32:32 AM »
Well, this is a tad bit embarrassing but it appears my serum bottle lid has become mercilessly tight after cooling in the refrigerator. I think the substance has really stiffened the space between the lid and the bottle, creating friction when turned. Anyone have any home remedy suggestions? This is definitely no pickle jar case. I tried running it under hot water. I'll have to be careful with how much water I fill in next time.

When this happens, i take mine with me to the shower. After a few minutes under the hot water, I can open it. This worked even when using the hot water from a bottle alone din´t. I guess it´s just a matter of time and water volume to fix the problem.

When you run hot water over the bottle neck, it gets hotter than the top and hence expands more. Then take a kitchen knife and gently tap the underside of the top and the vibrations will loosen it after a few taps.

The bottle is airtight (on purpose) and this can some rare cases cause this.

I had the same problem.  I tried everything .... ran it under hot water, tapped on it.  After my very strong son couldn't get it to budge, I gave up and threw it away!
