Author Topic: Applying 'anti-inflammatory' products after rolling/needling?  (Read 10519 times)

Hi,

I understand certain products can be used as anti-inflammatories (Emu Oil etc), and it's advised not to use these too soon after rolling - because some inflammation is part of the whole process.

I apply Shea Butter to my skin (using as a moisturiser because of dry skin), but I was just wondering, how long should I avoid applying it to the areas of my body that I have rolled/needled? I have seen some people recommend waiting 5 days until after rolling, or should I wait longer?

I have addressed this more-or-less here:

https://http://forums.owndoc.com/dermarolling-microneedling/How-long-does-the-inflammation-stage-lasts-after-rolling-with-long-needles

"Basically, when the signs of inflammation (redness, swelling, increased heat, pain) are completely gone then the inflammation process is completed."

It's impossible really to give an exact answer because the number of days depends on your skin and the needle length, prick density etc. So you should observe your skin instead. I hope this helps you..
